Steampunk Travelers' Event, Adventure & Megahunt

What?!?!? A hunt?? I asked myself when I received an invitation to participate in this. I never even heard of them before until now. I guess its a really big type of Easter egg hunt, which are regular events and with different themed hunts. So after scratching my head and clearing the cobwebs from my head after getting over a bad flu. I decided sure why not...Steampunk is just grunge Victorian rather then the grunge western I do, lol.

So I threw together a men and womens matching suit outfit. Both include the jacket/shirts, top hats, diamond gear ring, glowing shattered monocle, top hats, pants and skirt. This hunt starts March 1st - March 31st. The outfits will be available for FREE during March, so don't forget to find the hiding gear, and check out the rest of the other great Steampunk/Victorian stores participating in this. Welcome to the second STEAM: the Hunt! It will run through March 1st-31st, 2010. The gifts will remain available for the entire month... if you can find them!

There will be many Steampunk-themed gifts to find hidden all over the grid in participating shops. You'll be offered a variety of gifts as you search for the hidden items. Only high-quality designers have been invited to participate, and their exclusive items will be available only for the duration of the hunt.

As with most hunts, you will be given a starting location. That location will give you the LM to the next, and so on. Although you can begin anywhere, we suggest that you start here"

Native Shawl/Blanket

Native women did not look like Pocahontas?!?!? Layered baggy dresses, and often a blanket wrapped around them was what they wore back in the 19th century. This is my first go on a womans item, but this could also be unisex since its modify.

Appaloosa - Everett Hitch Outfit

For what seemed eternity, I finally finished up this outfit. A request from Clay, I think it turned out pretty good. Comes with the typical western duster jacket, shirt/vest, 2 different pants, tucked/untucked as well as a sculpted watch chain.

It's uhmm well very cozy....

Picked up this great western store from Xstreet. Only $1500L, but it saved me time having to build and destroy my own building. It has 2 floors, should be enough to fit my growing wares into for now. Now to find a new vendor and get back to the grind.

People have been poking at me wanting to see the rest of the Civil War stuff I will be putting out. So I suppose that will be on the next to do list...

The Miner

Finally! "The Miner" has entered the building! Sorry folks no sideburns...Anyways it took awhile doing this one, I wanted alot of detail in it. On the frontier, I don't think seamstress came along for sometime, so the miners/gold panners made do. Make shift patches and even missing buttons. Well worn and wrinkled, this outfit even comes with a dirty hand layer (gloves) I researched the fabric used back then, his shirt is Gingham, undershirt (union suit long john waffle fabric) along with brown woolen pants. In photos they were in layers of clothing, with sleeves up high and looked like they hadn't seen a bathtub in a month. (Boots are NOT included)

But this outfit is different from the others...he comes with a pickaxe. Not just any old pickaxe, done by the talented Mr Claytanic Kunglerr of Deadwood. It is fully scripted and has some great animations. Not only can you mine with it, but if you happen to venture to Deadwood role play sim, you can use it as a melee weapon as well! Now if you dont have enough for a gun, being a hard workin miner you can still protect yourself...or well...maybe just kill someone and steal their nuggets instead...

This outfit can be versatile and not just be used as a miner (gold panner), can be fit for a farmer, ranch hand, outlaw, a drifter...etc..etc

Dusty with a bit of class.

A more classy black pinstriped suit, comes with a dusty pinstriped jacket/vest, pants and black bowler hat. Next on the to do list will be a few miners outfits and some more native wear. :)

How dirty are you?

This is what I have been up to for the past couple of weeks...Getting dirty! These have been all inspired for the Deadwood reset, and so far have been alot of fun. Looking forward to coming out with more. (Have any ideas? Send me an IM in Second life - Master Glendevon)

My newest outfit is a typical lower class working man/farmer dirty outfit. I think it could pass for an Amish look as well... lol. But really can cover a wide of variety of western role play parts. The shirt is tintable (looks really good tinted brown or beige) and holds the detail, so you can really extend the wardrobe without spending alot. It also comes with a bonus gunshot wound, jacket and undershirt layer ** Looks good on women.

A Cheyenne Native American outfit. Comes with several items so you can mix and match. I suppose it could also pass for Lakota as well. The buckskin is well weathered with tassels, bead work and feathers. I decided against 100+ flexi tassel prims for parts of the outfit and just photoshop them on instead to avoid lag. ** Also looks really good on women.

The Seth Bullock outfit from the HBO television series "Deadwood" was inspired by Clay. It was a learning experience, but had fun with. Dirty tweed jacket and pants with pinstriped shirt and vest with collar, hat and boots.

First outfit that I ever made in Second Life is a Civil War Confederate Calvary Uniform. It is well used and dirty, crawling thru trenches isnt a clean job...I think I will try a Union outfit soon.

Second Life Business

Coming into Second Life several months ago, I noticed you can't go far without seeing sims of stores and malls galore. Seeing all these, I thought wow, looks like rocket science... And still now, some things go way over my head like scripting. I never really thought of trying business out in Second Life, but the cost of some things makes you start looking for the nearest Second Life Walmart, lol. And being a role player finding a certain item in the fiery depths of Second Life is like a needle in a haystack. So my quest for the Holy Grail, I made my first little cube prim! I thought I was a God! Well no not really...But I was happy with my little cube I had no clue what to do with, lol.

I'm still learning alot, but its fun. So after making western era furniture, grew tired of that, and started looking at clothing. Lets see... *tallys up some random numbers in his head* 5.3 million womens era clothing compared to 5 mens outfits. Exaggerated, but you catch my drift. So my Second Life store "Rustic Wares" is more of a hobby to supply western role players with items, rather then try to become a linden millionaire. I try to make my items more worn and lived in, history wise not alot were rich on the rugged western frontier and I'm pretty sure they didn't have a dry cleaners back in the 19th century either, lol. So my quest continues on making clothing that reflects the poor, working class, miners and black slaves in that era for role players. Pictures will follow soon, as this is still a work in progress.

I'm finally catching onto the clothing templates, so thats coming along alot faster in Photoshop now. Should have a selection to choose from, once the Deadwood reset happens in March. Let the good times role!

Second Life Blogging?!?!

Okay here I am...I ventured onto new pastures. "Blogging" I have heard mentions and seen a few posts of these "Seconds Life Bloggers" And always thought that was for real life musings and rants. But for Second Life?? Interesting concept, never thought about it, but now seeing many role player blogs, it caught my interest, so here I am! *his eyes shift around his empty padded blogger room*

It all started 6 months or so months ago, I stumbled upon Second Life for a second time, this time with a faster computer so I could actually walk more then 3 feet. I ventured to many of these "sims" and tried to figure out what a "prim" was and all these other strange and bizarre terms. After getting familiar with the basics, I sat and thought "Well is that it??" Wandering aimlessly really didn't seem like much of a "Second Life" Until one day I discovered the all mighty and great search bar... It all changed! I stumbled upon role play sims while I was searching, and surprisingly enough there was almost every type of role play scenario out there! From Star Wars, to drug lords, to being a blood crazed zombie, the list went on and on, and the more intrigued I became. I visited several, but something was missing, these role play sims were not the meat and potatoes I was looking for to fulfill my need. I stumbled upon this western role play sim "Tombstone" Hmmm the western life never really did intrest me, but I was up for trying anything. After spending 20 minutes or so waiting for a "greeter" I got fed up and found another western sim "Deadwood" Not the slightest clue of what it was about, except it was western role play. I started out in the area of "Yanktown" to thumb thru the rules and grab a meter and venture onto the wagon like so many before me...

I stepped off the wagon, into the lazy town of Deadwood. I wandered around and stumbled upon a wedding reception of "Mollie and Blitzer" at the Bella Union. The characters were dressed surprisingly well for the era, and the detail of the buildings and town itself were done great, it made me want to stay and "learn" of this little sim of Deadwood. The role play had plots and twists! Every character there had been well thought out and planned, with something up their sleeves be it good or evil for the town, I was hooked! Learning that Deadwood was actually based on history itself, made it even more appealing. Its a history lesson and a step back in time all at once, with even mind boggling schemes like that of the game of "Clue". I knew where to get my meat and potatoes now! Several months later I am still here in Deadwood as the "Sherrif" and still enjoying all the new plots that come about!
